Wait, did she... did she just order up a boy-hooker? Right in front of her boyfriend?

I see some reorganization is due on account of Ellen fucking Dolan.

Best Superhero Girlfriends

  1. Mary-Jane Watson Ellen Dolan
  2. Lois Lane
  3. Linda Park

Or wait... does this count as a negative?

Worst Superhero Girlfriends

  1. Karen Page Ellen Dolan
  2. Ollie Queen
  3. Lana Lang

I don't know whether that's crass or cool, but it sure is brassy for 1944.

Being a woman was more fun in the golden than in the silver age.

Hey there,

Hope you don't mind, I friended you based on your incredibly insightful and funny commentary on moviebuffs. And when I saw you're also a comic book guy, I figure I'd better keep an eye on what you were writing.

Linda Park has always been one of my favorite super hero girlfriends. I suppose she gets bonus points because she wasn't around back in the golden age to have those "Oh no! I'm so helpless and useless because I'm a woman" moments. Lois has had her share of them.

Lois does lose points for being an "ace reporter" who doesn't notice that one of the men in her life is just another of the men in her life with eyeglasses... whereas Linda Park, it must be noted, loves Wally so much that the sheer force of her love fucked the Devil's shit up. You can see how scientific my rating system is.

Surely it's better to call for boy-hookers to your boyfriends face rather than going behind his back...

Does Comics!Felicia Hardy not get a place in the bad girlfriend list for her reaction to Peter's dramatic unmasking? 'Omg that's what your face looks like? Blegh! Put the mask back on!'

This is so awesome!

I don't think it was actually uncommon to have more than one boyfriend at the time back then - I remember my Grandmother (and several others of her age group) actually had more than one boyfriend, if anything (she told me) it was looked *down* upon if you didn't!

In earlier generations, dating more than one person at a time had no great stigma to it. However, "dating" has itself shifted since then. "Dating" now is much more akin to what "going steady" was back in our parents (or our parents parents) time.

Then, dating multiple people at the same time was expected. How else were you to get to know people, and make a decision about who you were going to spend your life with. Then, as things got more serious, you'd start going steady, and kind of precursor to getting engaged. Engaged to be engaged, so to speak.

But these days, many people assume that if you're going on a date with someone, you're not seeing anyone else. Serial monogamy at it's worst! ;)
