So Darkseid as the Justice League villain?

On the one hand, it's better than fucking Max Lord. On the other hand, that's real close to Thanos, raising the fear that the WB's just doing it because it worked in The Avengers. I almost wish they could save the big guy for a second film, but on the other hand, yeah, Avengers.
Anyway, I know I'm a pathetic, wretched fan-thing, but if there's one thing that the last season of Smallville proved, it's that Darkseid on his own is pretty boring. Surely, they could find a little room for Scott Free as the 'guy who warns everyone about what a holy terror Darkseid is' and Big Barda as the 'fearsome bad guy lieutenant who turns to the good side.' If The Avengers could include spear-carriers like Hawkeye and Black Widow (no offense), Justice League can include the guys who've actually been fighting Darkseid for sixty years. And don't talk to me about Orion, okay, no one cares about Orion? He got married and I literally never heard about it until Batman was fucking his wife. Irr. Relevant.
I'm just saying, if you're doing the Darkseid thing, forget Green Arrow, drop Black Canary, include the characters who are actually thematically related. Except Orion. Screw that guy.

Date: 2012-12-06 09:22 pm (UTC)I'll freely admit it's been a long-ass time since the first son of New Genesis was used well, but when he is, hang on to the moon! Honestly, just think of the possibilities of a Scott/Orion/Kalibak conversation, with all their daddy issues coming to a fore! Although even this helps underscore your point, that there's no real sense in having Darkseid come into play without dragging the whole Fourth World into the mix. Kanto, Glorious Godfrey, Desaad, the Female Furies- these are literally iconic henchmen! (Well, maybe not Kanto. But that's all the more reason to use him as one!)
