Not as many people read het as read slash. Duh. Still, the trade-off is that while I'm writing "so he... and then she... which prompted him to... so that she...", other people are writing "the dark man did this to the tall man, who in return touched the mutant, who gave a blowjob to the leader, who grabbed the samurai's hair and pulled them out by the roots, causing the secret agent to wince in pain."

Which is not an orgy, but a Scott/Logan sex scene. Although I think Wolverine might've been a ninja instead of a samurai. I don't know, I only care about X-Men when Joss Whedon is releasing an issue, so...

Yes! For god's sake, people, just USE THEIR NAMES. Feel free to use pronouns when it's crystal clear which character the pronoun refers to, but if there's any doubt USE THEIR NAMES. Nobody will object.

It's like using "said" instead of "whispered" and "shouted" and "growled" and "cried" and so forth. Useful as seasoning if that's actually what they did, but mostly? Just say "said." Really. Nobody will object.

Astonishing X-Men.

*snorts* The lil' not-orgy made me laugh there, but I think Logan would be a samurai as opposed to a ninja since the later is a little too generic to fit Logan's character. Not that it matters that much.

Personally, I gave up X-men during the Vale Soledad thing. The day that my two favorite characters (Rogue & Gambit) actually bore me, is the day that I leave a title and don't look back.

...

Okay, maybe a peek back.

Thank God you got out before they did the storyline of Mystique masquerading as a fanfic Mary-Sue sexy new student so that Gambit could bust a nut in someone without being unfaithful to Rogue or something. It made one long for the elegance of the Emma/Jean/Scott triangle.

I heard about that and it sounded vaguely fascinating if rather overdone. The Jean/Scott/Emma thing was a sign to me that all was not right with the X-men world. When they refused to correct this whole Scott-marrying-Emma business, that was another clue to me that it was time to drop the fandom. There are some things that are iconic and constant and should not be tampered with period.

I've heard about this whole Messiah complex thing, though. I'm thinking I'll probably ask around to find out what happened to my favorite Cajun and Southern Belle, and then I'll just go back and burry my head in the sands of the Distinguished Competition.
