So I went to see The Dark Knight Rises with my mom, which is nice, because my mom cannot handle tense movies and needs to hold my hand, which makes me feel like a good kid and less of an asshole. I'm not saying I am an asshole, but I did get Chick-Fil-A after the show (to be fair, back before this whole gay controversy started, I was a regular at a Chick-Fil-A by my old workplace and they gave me a free milkshake once. My loyalty's for sale to the highest bidder, like Han Solo, and they bid a Chick-Fil-A milkshake. Motherfucker's got cookies and cream!)
(I would like to further say that both Which Wich and Rudino's were closed, so I made a good faith effort to locate non-homophobic mealery. DO YOU WANT ME TO STARVE TO DEATH, IS THAT IT?)
Anyway, something I noticed in the movie. As I've said before, I've been a proponent of the theory that in the intervening eight years between TDK and TDKR, Bruce continues to be Batman until about three years before the movie. Others say that Bruce is only Batman for the rough year in which Batman Begins and The Dark Knight takes place, and he quits immediately after TDK.
I'm not saying my fellow Batmanologists are wrong. But when Bruce hallucinates a meeting with Ra's al Ghul, Ra's specifically says that Bruce has spent "years," plural, fighting for Gotham. Now, maybe you can ascribe that Batman Begins and The Dark Knight take place years apart, but I don't buy it. Does Bruce just stay in the friend-zone with Rachel while she gives him nothing for years? Does the Joker keep pulling off minor robberies for the same timeframe? Nah. I'd put TDK as taking place months after BB. So those years that Bruce himself says he's been fighting (through the form of LIAM NEESON) can only have come after TDK.
SCIENCE.
