Spider-Man
May. 30th, 2012 09:47 amSo how does this new Amazing Spider-Man origin work, anyway (well, like Ang Lee's Hulk, obviously, but besides that)? I mean, Peter Parker is Spider-Man because he was genetically experimented on as a child--because I guess his long-lost parents are really insanely awful people?--and being bitten by a genetically-engineered spider just activated it--not a regular spider, a super-special spider, because SCIENCE. Just like penicillin only works if you brew on the equinox at the Mayan temple of Quinoxos.
But are they still going with the Lizard just being a guy who gave himself a shot and became a scaly monster? That doesn't really make sense. I think they should address this in the reboot of the reboot.
Spider-Man: Don't be silly, the spider-bite didn't have much to do with it, I was genetically engineered.
Curt Connors: And in trying to grow myself a new arm, I accidentally invoked the curse that my ancestor, Bartholomew Connors, incurred by provoking the snake god Xerlix's wrath!
Doc Ock: And my mom went to school in Japan... Think about it.

So if he'd been bitten by that spider without that previous change, he would ahve turned into a big spider-monster.

*I originally asked how screwed up its genetics would be if it mutated someone into having spider-powers (even if they're engineered to be receptive to superpowers...somehow), and then I remembered we're discussing a comic-book movie.
