If you are a completely unintimidating villain and yet somehow you've managed to gain the upper hand and started smashing Daniel Craig's face in with a lead pipe (again, from the looks of it), do NOT stop to go get an axe. Just keep hitting him with the lead pipe. James Bond does not have an especial vulnerability to axes, nor is he immune to lead pipes.
