So, is the new Parker, who fights back against the bullies, not so much of a nerd, then?

Okay. Reality check. You know who’s really bullied these days? Gay kids. Black kids. You want to make Peter ostricized, make him a nerdy gay kid or a nerdy black kid, because that’ll be a lot closer to the comics than an “angry, rebellious lone wolf.”

I'm so sick of this "it's cool to be a nerd now." I don't believe for one fucking second that social-awkward smart, passionate, and/or generally awkward kids aren't still bullied, harassed, and assaulted on a daily fucking basis. Bullies don't care about fucking trends.

It’s cool to be a nerd now

Former bullied kid here rolling her eyes. No. It's cool to have interests in geeky stuff, sure, most times, yes.

Being not conventionally attractive, having questionable taste in clothing, in a marginalized group like being queer or one of the few PoC in a school or fat or so on. NOT. SO. MUCH.
