My review of Roger Ebert's review of The Raid. I know Ebert had a similar moral indignation over slasher movies in the 80s, but there at least he specified that he took issue with the films' depiction of violence against women, he didn't couch it as much in aspirations against the movies themselves. As for the slashers -- can you name another genre with a majority of female protagonists? Rom-coms, maybe, but the overall quality is the same and what are slasher movies but rom-coms where the annoying people get machete'd?

I don't even know who this guy is, but I want Freddy Krueger to, like, kill him with Draw Something and then say "I've always been good at drawing blood!" real cool like.
