This episode confirmed for me that Person of Interest is building up to be a Batman-version of Smallville. Only, you know, awesome. Reese = Batman, Finch = Bruce Wayne/Alfred, Carter = Renee Montoya, Fusco = Harvey Bullock, that kid from a few episodes back = Robin, Zoe = Catwoman, Elias/HR/Root = Rogue's gallery of villainy.
Last night, with Reese crashing through doors and taking down four goons by flashing around in the shadows confirmed it. He's Batman... with a gun.
Also, a bloody and handcuffed Reese cradling the baby to his chest in the back of a refrigerated van as a single puff of air rose from his lips? Tell me you can't see that as a full-page panel from a Batman comic. ;-D
