I should probably round out being cynical about an upcoming genre property by watching pro wrestling and disparaging female gamers, but good god, that tagline is the first time I've seen Insane Troll Logic applied to a promotional campaign.

Also, I'm not sure how Hollywood unions work, but it strikes me as less work to just create a good-looking costume in the first place rather than make a crappy one for no reason, than create an ad campaign based around hiding it (for example, with a trailer that makes your superhero movie look like a horror movie take on Columbine, with one fleeting glimpse of the title character at the end... in a mirror... in a blur of motion).

They wanted to distinguish it from the first film series's. That way parents don't look at the toys and say they're identical to the regular Spidey ones a few feet to the left. Gotta pad out those Happy Meals.

There's a difference between giving Iron Man a new arc reactor and putting flames on Optimus Prime.

Oddly enough, Bay did have a decent reason for the flames. It was because he didn't think plain red would look as good on film, but still wanted Prime to have a red chest in robot mode.

Yes, Michael Bay actually cares about more than just explosions.
