It just seems a weird disconnect to me, since of the two projects, Sucker Punch is the one that didn't end up revealing most of the rapists to just be misunderstood.

Joss' feminism cred is overrated. Buffy may have shown women can fight and handle emotional trauma, but if you really analyze the show there's like better than 50 or 60% odds the world would be better off if the women on the show listened to the old white guys.

Unfortunately Joss always sought to have Buffy emotionally traumatized at the same time he put 6. whatever billion lives on the line.
