I know there was a second and third movie plotted for Green Lantern but has DC said they are definitely going ahead despite the first Green Lantern doing so poorly in theaters? It had a 66% drop off in ticket sales for its second week.
Something I've seen said is that, precisely because so many of the higher-ups at DC and Warner were so directly involved in micromanaging this flop, it's become "too big to fail," because if you start firing everyone who's responsible, you're looking at a cull of the entire top of the pyramid.
Which is actually what SHOULD happen, but if Geoff Johns, who had final approval on every step of the film, is let go of, then it doesn't look very good for the DC reboot.

Agreed! I can understand the view from the top of not wanting to lose one's job. *sighs* I really wanted Green Lantern to be better! It could have been if the plot had been simplified. I think they did one thing right which was set up for a Sinestro-centric sequel, which is what I really really want to see. I think this will be one of those cases where the second movie is better than the first.

I really like Johns' work on the comics but I think comics is where he needs to stay.
I used to really love Johns' earlier work, and I think he's actually a very nice guy in real life (unlike Quesada or DiDio), but goddamn, his flaws as a writer border on the pathological at this point. To paraphrase what seriousfic said about RTD and Doctor Who, Geoff deserves a lifetime pass for not only resurrecting the Green Lantern Corps, but also creating an entire rainbow of other Corps, but the problem is that, with every other story he's written since, he's proceeded to hammer the hell out of that pass.
In a parallel universe, the atrocious Woder Woman pilot is still being shopped to various networks, because she was Geoff Johns' favorite character, and he doesn't care how much money she loses.
And Hippolyta would say, "Diana is the reason I became Wonder Woman," which in her case is ACTUALLY ACCURATE.
Of course, you know that this means that Dinah would have to become Diana's Ollie, in terms of being the overly eager HOW WAS IT HUH WAS IT GOOD HUH HUH HUH OH YOU'RE SO AWESOME DIANA character.
