One of the things a lot of superhero movies get wrong is that the female characters are either played by an actress who's clearly just been cast to fill out a costume, or Halle Berry. And not to harp on Green Lantern, but casting Blake Lively not so she can show off her body in a Star Sapphire costume, but so that she can show off her body in a Star Sapphire costume in a sequel has to be a new low.

Nicolas Winding Refn wants to direct a Wonder Woman movie with Christina Hendricks as the hero (I hope you've learned this from me and not from an annoying CHRISTINA HENDRICKS IN A WONDER WOMAN COSTUME HUBBA HUBBA article). Now, Hendricks isn't great casting, but then, Michael Keaton only looks like Batman if Bruce Wayne fell into a Brundlefly Machine with Woody Allen. More importantly, Refn is a talented director who really wants to make a Wonder Woman movie, to the point of doing action movies with Ryan Gosling to get his name in the hat. So even if he has some weird idea about Wonder Woman's mom being her arch-nemesis, I could settle for a good movie with some arbitrary changes to canon over a hackjob like Green Lantern. Really, I think a "Tim Burton's Batman" for Wonder Woman is the most we can hope for. And since all this stuff gets rebooted in ten years anyway...

I'm a big, big Christina Hendricks fan, but I think she's hopelessly wrong for Wonder Woman. Wrong body type, wrong face/complexion/hair, wrong features, wrong voice.

If Christina Hendricks wants to run around in her Wonder Woman underoos and let someone film it then LET HER. We've all sat through worse crap than that, then sat through the reboot 2 years later. LET HER.
