Thought experiment: Whenever DC says 'iconic', they mean white.

yeah, especally considering most of the people they replace are white.

Technically, that's not their fault. The original heroes were largely white, due to the standards of the times. DC (and Marvel), when they replace those heroes, sees fit to add diversity. No problem. Until they try to bring the old heroes back.

What I don't understand is why there aren't just multiple heroes with the same name. Palmer can be Atom 1, Choi can be Atom 2: Electric Bugaloo*. Everyone wins.

* Also considered: Atom 2: Tokyo Drift. That seemed a little racist to me.

in many cases there did coexist. Heck Ray Palmer and Ryan Choi worked together as the Atom for a while.

White kids (meaning their parents) still have all the money. DC & Marvel are now little more than marketing companies, hence the now regular story lurch from the monthly story line to the Big Event Book. Which makes all the money. Which brings us back to the white kids. Who's parents have all the money (circular logic & crappy old stories brought to you by the Republican party of America)
