Note: I apologize to any Christians who may be reading for lumping in Mormons with you. But you know how it is, you can't have Star Trek without Voyager.

Not having read the Twilight series, I may be a bit off...but I always thought it was very weird for SM to write a book about not having sex before marriage and put the message in an "OR YOU'LL DIE" context, as opposed to "this is a moral decision that it is important for you, as a good (pure/Christian/whatever) person, to make." It seems like she would much prefer her daughter to have the latter viewpoint, especially since it closes the but-he's-not-a-vampire loophole.

But then, maybe I'm asking for her to make sense...

I must confess that though I am not Mormon myself, it makes me sad that people think "Mormon" and that makes them think "Stephenie Meyer" which makes them think "bad". I wish more people would remember that Orson Scott Card was mormon too.
