It must really suck to be an atheist. After all, Gregory House is probably the foremost sharer of your beliefs on primetime television and he's a horrible atheist. Setting aside any possible angry-at-God-ness, he's completely disrespectful of others' beliefs and thinks anyone who doesn't agree with him is an idiot. It'd be like if there were a hit show with a prominent Christian character who was consistently shown as a foolish, bigoted hypocri--

...damn, Fox, you just hate everyone, don't you?

Oh, come on, I go through all the effort of resisting a Jew/Hollywood joke and then the first comment...

Is that Olivia Wilde in your icon? For I must have knowledge of that photoshoot.

Scary carnal knowledge.

Someone who can identify Olivia Wilde in an icon even out of context? On [livejournal.com profile] seriousfic's journal? Surely not! ;-D

But it is! And it wasn't so much a photoshoot as a promo picture. You can see it in all it's huge glory here. It's an awesome shot, and there's plenty of eye candy no matter what trips your trigger. ;-D

(and the icon is mine if you wish to take)

Eh, being an atheist doesn't lead to the same sense of identification as having a religion, I don't think. Normally, you're not raised by atheists- you may not even be one yourself until later in life. You go to a religious school in a religious country. And there's not really much culture, no traditions . . . and what's there to bond over? Though we all believe that life is meaningless and death inevitable, it's not the kind of thing you have a bake sale about. And there's only so many times you can discuss the fact we're all just ambulant proteins arranged in a way that leads to the better propagation of more proteins at a barbeque before you start to feel like a tool. And there's not the same irritation at having your beliefs misrepresented- people approach atheism differently (moral relativists etc), and the whole point of it is that even if there was a 'right' way to be atheist, who the hell cares? It's not like it matters. (It irritates me when people are wrong about the theory of evolution, though. The great apes share a common ancestor. That is not complicated, why oh why do people get it wrong?)

Plus, I mean, we're all kind of used to famous atheists also being famous dickheads at this point. That's just art imitating life, I'm afraid.

They cancelled Firefly after screwing it over so hard Joss Whedon and Tim Minear still have to sit on inflatable donuts.

So, yes.
