I think you've probably heard about this one… the British show about a werewolf, a vampire, and a ghost living together that is much better than it sounds? Well, it's true. There's some weirdness for me in that it isn't a procedural, every episode is more of a mini-movie almost. It's hard to explain… basically, the thing most series do where there's a freak of the week and the characters' issues are on the backburner as they deal with it… that's not the case here. It's all characters, all the time. Which gives me a sort of vertigo… there's an example from the (vastly inferior) second season where Annie is going out with one guy while another pines after her. Eventually, she dumps the first guy and goes to the second guy to tell him "It's you. It's always been you." How long has this epic love affair been brewing? One, maybe two episodes. I just feel like the short British season doesn't give the plots much time to breathe, but I fully accept that that's just me.

Mild spoilers forthcoming... Character-wise, Annie's my favorite. How can you not love Annie? She's spunky and clever and just wants everyone to have hot tea and get along. How could anyone murder her over a thong? Annie, come to me, you can wear all the thongs you like.

I creeped myself out there.

George is kind of a non-entity to me. He doesn't offend me… that's the second season… but he doesn't really grab me either. But at least he brings a cool practical werewolf suit to the table (I'm pretty sure they spent most of the budget on that bad boy). That's so refreshing after Supernatural pulls shit like having a "werewolf" that's just a chick with fangs. Half-man, two-percent wolf! Okay, yeah, sure, most criticism probably goes after the misogyny, but can we not agree that crappy werewolves are a close second?

As for Mitchell… I have the same objection to Mitchell that I imagine a lot of straight fangirls feel when they see Starfire. You know, the skimpy costume, the alien culture with no nudity taboo, the bonus bisexuality… it all comes off as so desperately appealing to a certain demographic that it's almost offensive to people outside the demographic. Likewise, the whole thing with Mitchell and his black leather, and his angst, and how he's clearly meant to be the Big Sexy Hero with the others in supporting roles, and how he's the Best Vampire Ever who is the lynchpin to vampires taking over the world (even though we're never given any indication why he's so awesome)… well, it all came across as pretty overbearing to me.

Back then, golden skin was exotic and sensuous. Nowadays? Snooki.

Well there's s2, which explains exactly why Mitchell is so looked up to, aka the scene in the train.

If I believed in ghosts and hauntings, I would want an Annie ghost. Mostly for tea making purposes.

But he's going to be played by Sam Witwer! I don't even care if his char is overdone or whatever. I don't even care if I'm offended. I'll put that motherfucker on mute and just look at it. That's all I have to say.
