seriousfic5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?
Age-wise, one of my characters has a kid sister who I think is nine-ish. Don't quote me on that. She doesn't really have a plot function, but I think she makes the world feel a bit more crowded and realistic. Plus, if I have to put up with a baby sister for 18 years, I should at least be able to use the anecdotes I get out of it. Oldest... well, one of my books involves immortal gods, so take your pick of the guys who've been around since the beginning of time.
Creation-wise... well, I have this fantasy novel I really need to finish. Long story short: Instead of doing the Chris Nolan thing to fantasy, like George R.R. Martin and his antecedents are doing, I'm trying for a Buffy thing... reworking all the old sword and sorcery tropes with characters who are smart and snarky. So the hero isn't a callow youth or a battle-scarred veteran... he's sort of a Ben Franklin type, a renaissance man who was born a few hundred years shy of the Renaissance and is forced into dealing with hordes of orcs and stuff when he really should be coming up with new painting techniques.
Youngest. There's a new villain I'm working on who'll show up later in this series, if I ever get a contract. He's literally the physical anthropomorphization of Lust. As is usual for this universe, I do the exact opposite of Supernatural, so instead of being a really horny chick, he's pretty much the God of Frat Boys and the Male Gaze. Not the good kind of lust, you know, but more exploitation and objectification. Yeah, blah blah, big words. Technically, that makes him a Depraved Bisexual, but since the universe has other, more positive queer characters (yes, some are even boys!), hopefully there won't be any wank.
