Hello betas
Aug. 16th, 2010 03:23 pmJust wondering how you're all enjoying and progressing through the YA novel I sent you. How was the thing with the thing?
Yeah, maybe I should've warned you ahead of time, I always worry with betas that they'll going to wait a long time and then tell me they hated it. I base this on the time a beta waited a long time and then told me she hated it.
So let's check in, exchange thoughts and cat macros, how 'bout it?

Date: 2010-08-16 11:25 pm (UTC)There were a few anachronisms. I can only think of one of the top of my head. The sheriff/deputy sheriff near the beginning when they find Shelley talks about an internet meme, and I'm not sure if a sheriff/deputy sheriff from Texas would know what an internet meme is, especially if he is over 30 and lives in Texas. However, I don't live in Texas and am not over 30, so I couldn't really say anything about that.
I liked the open ending - you know, preparing for a possible sequel/sequels. I'm going to read it over again this week, as I want to cement my opinion, but initially, this is what I found.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to post a cat macro, but I do wish that I had one to share with you :(

Date: 2010-08-17 07:01 pm (UTC)Off the top of my head, though, the *second?* paragraph bugged me a little, describing her morning routine?
One sentence started off very dry, technical, precise, then finished up with a cheap shot at her variety of cosmetics - it's a bit of a tone shift, and it just didn't work for me - but as always, I'm just picky.
