So, this would be my choice for best action movie of the year. Inception was a great heist flick, but had some boring action scenes that could best be described as "people shooting guns, other people falling down." Iron Man 2 was good, but not great, and it really needed to let it rip as a sequel instead of kinda tiptoing over the action line the first one set. I haven't seen The Expendables. Everything else, shakycam bullshit.

Anyway, I really don't get the criticism here. Edgar Wright makes Shaun of the Dead, a movie about his love of zombie cinema, everyone loves it. Edgar Wright makes Hot Fuzz about his love of bad action movies, everyone loves it. Edgar Wright makes Scott Pilgrim about his love of video games, suddenly the internet calls bullshit? Fuck that noise. I'd much rather glorify indie music and old video games than a racist hack like Michael Bay. He made Megan Fox cry!

Then you have Michael Cera, and it's funny that everyone is hating on him for playing the same character in every movie since in this movie, he's playing a drama queen rock star superhero instead of a dweeby virgin who talks... with... awkward... pauses.

I mean, I've wondered if these days, you could get away with a comic book movie that'd be as faithful as Sin City, but to whacky, whimsical stuff instead of grim grittiness. Like, a movie that was just crazy Silver Age Superman stuff, like the episode of The Simpsons where they did like mini-stories about all the different side-characters, there'd be Jimmy getting superpowers and Lois trying to figure out Superman's identity and Clark just trying to be a mensch about everything? If you tried that, the first thing you'd probably hear is "His costume is too brightful and color-y! It should be the color of blood!" And this not only captures the spirit of the comic book, but is truthful about it instead of saying that it'll feature Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, and Arnold Schwarzenegger in leading roles (like some movies I could name coming out this weekend that are named The Expendables). So yeah, watch it, love it, buy the Blu-Ray, and

Is it better than Kick Ass?

It's close, but I would say so. Kick Ass had the problem where most of the action was given away in the trailers (all sixteen of them).

>>He made Megan Fox cry!

You say that as if it were in some way a negative, and not good for points towards getting into Heaven.

THAT IS YOU IN THE FIRST PANEL. YOU ARE THE JUSTIN BIEBER OF THIS STORY.

I'm pretty sure that Megan Fox is the Justin Bieber of this story, and Michael Bay is the hero that hit her in the head with a water bottle.

I'd link to the "Jerk Sue" page, but I think any image I posted of Fox being a bitch would just give you an erection.

Putting a minstrel show in a franchise aimed at children trumps "being a bitch".

Dude, did you just do a "think of the children"?

YES. Showing black caricatures to children is bad. That's not "political correctness," that's "not being a hateful douche".

Actually, it seems to be doing pretty well critically. Against all logic, someone adapted an indie comic to the big screen and the comic's fans actually seem to like it.

There seems to be an odd lack of people complaining about the Openly Polygamous Gay character. Maybe because he's one of the most level-headed characters in the entire film. Maybe because Wallace is just that awesome.
