If in the X-Men: First Class movie, they used the Days of Future Past storyline to sort of reboot the timeline. You know, Rachel Grey, Bishop, whoever else you can bring in... I mean, optimally you'd have them show up just after the end of X2, but I'd be willing to accept a new timeline with the mutants in their teens. Even if it means that only Wolverine is in continuity. Hey, Star Trek started a new timeline where only Enterprise and the genocidal crew of the NX-01 is still canon, and people are eating that up.

ETA: Because it'd be kind of hard to care about Scott/Jean in a prequel when you know one's doing to die pointlessly and the other's going to spend three movies yearning to blow Logan. I'll leave you to determine which is which.
