(It's the chick from She's Out Of My League, the comedy with the high-concept premise that a hot woman is attracted to a schlubby guy. For the sequel, maybe they can have a kid who's a wise-ass.)

Worrisome. I at least expected an uninspired "British femme fatale" actor like Kate Beckinsale or Rhona Mitra who could do the part in her sleep. I thought a name actress was minimum requirement there, given she is the female lead of the X-Men at the moment.

Now, admittedly, she does look more Emma-y than Sigourney Weaver, who was Bryan Singer's choice for the role. And she does have the necessary qualifications for the role. (NSFW. Why am I the pervert? She's the one who doesn't have any clothes on.) Yes, it actually is important in this case. With someone like Psylocke, the T&A is fan service, while Emma's use of her sexuality is an important part of her character. Just for starters, she used to be a flat-chested teen with mousy brown hair. That didn't last long.

A plus: Willingness to be photographed in ridiculous outfits. Very important requirement to play Emma Frost, inventor of the bra-cape.

Buuut…

There are two kinds of actresses in Hollywood. On the one hand, you have hard-working women who want only to improve their craft and make the best of parts that are usually woefully underwritten ("I'm the hero's girlfriend and I'm concerned. By the way, did you know my boyfriend is heterosexual?"). And on the other hand, you have women who get breast implants. They get parts because, when they're "interviewed" in lad magazines, the writer will say when the movie is coming out, thus building awareness among the lucrative frat boy audience. No sexism, there are absolutely male actors with the exact same "appeal."

Pictured: ACTING!

So I'm really hoping Alice Eve is the former and not Halle Berry the latter.

I liked the previous suggestion of Rosamund Pike better, but them's the breaks.

Haven't seen her in anything; she was the runner-up to play Peggy Carter in the Cap film, so I guess the higher-ups liked her enough to recommend her to one of their sister-productions.

I hope that's it, otherwise I'm reminded of a comedy bit someone did on Jeffrey Hunter, who played Captain Pike on Star Trek. "He played Jesus in The King of Kings, but on Star Trek they replaced him with William Shatner. So he's good enough to play the Son of God, but not the Captain of the Enterprise."

Yeah, I'm an Emma fan...

Well c'mon. Be honest. Who would you rather have go into a fight with you? Jesus or Captain Kirk?

Jesus: *raises hand in Jedi wave to bad guy* "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the Earth."

Kirk: *cowboy punches a bad guy, then shoots another one with a phaser, then bangs the hot chick of the week*

Yes, but if you're with Jesus, you'll be the one banging the hot chick of the week. JC doesn't seem like the type of guy who would cheat on Mary Magdalene.

I dunno, JC's credentials as wingman seem a little iffy. Dude's always gotta plant himself right at the center of the table.

"So he's good enough to play the Son of God, but not the Captain of the Enterprise." LOL

It is a pretty big chair to fill.

And then you get the actors who are both good at what they do, and draw in fans in droves to see teh pretteh.

They are, unfortunately, few and far between. That's why Johnny Depp is playing every role in every movie twice.

It's hard to argue with that, considering that when Heath Ledger died they brought in Johnny Depp to finish out his role.

Alice Eve Has gotten good reviews in serious theater. She may or may not be any good as Emma Frost, but she's not just a pair of boobs.

I did read that she acted opposite Brian Cox. I like to think that if you get on the stage with Brian Cox and don't have any acting talent, the sheer force of his ACTING!! will incinerate you.
