Twilight
With its $69.6 million opening weekend gross the movie had the biggest opening ever for a film directed by a woman, and also for a film starring a woman.

All other films actually star cleverly disguised female impersonators.

And really, calling the character of Bela Swan a woman is kind of a stretch and an insult to actual women (I could have sworn there were women in Avatar. Maybe Sigourney Weaver was CGI.)

True, but there's a difference between starring/being the main character and serving as the love interest to the main character/being a supporting char at most to the main char

Now not defending Twilight, that movie sucked. But supposedly, Bella Swan is the main char of the movie.

The entire series is about Bella becoming and being a love interest and nothing else. That is not only her sole purpose, it is the series' sole purpose. So... yeah, not exactly a valid argument.
