Kirk bitch-slaps him (THREE TIMES!) and Spock gives us some Vulcan snark, which is the best snark in the galaxy.

Spock: My father is from the planet Vulcan.
Trelane: And are its natives predatory?
Spock: Not generally… but there have been exceptions.
