I'm completely surprised at how well Academic Discourse is doing. It's a fic about a minor female character in the fandom that invented slash, it focuses on Racefail IN SPAAAAACE! and a friendship between two women, it's gen... by all accounts, it should be fangirl Kryptonite. Yet people can't seem to stop talking about it. D'awww, fandom... I know we fight, but you really are cool. Stay golden, Ponyboy.

How much better would Smallville be, as an EXPERIENCE, if the Lex/Lana/Clark triangle had been replaced with the more canonical Lex/Lois/Clark? Obviously, this could also involve setting up Lois as less of a fuck-up, but given that I remember reading that the producers were waiting for Lana to turn 18 specifically so they could do the Lexana triangle (EWW EWW EWW HAVE YOU NO SHAME!?), there's no reason they couldn't have made Lois a more overachieving General's Daughter who could've believably attracted Lex's eye. And Lana could've left the show to go to Paris and never returned. DISCUSS.
