So, uhh, I liked it? Like, enough to dismiss the stupid stuff (and there was some) and instead be a happy shipper?
First off, Clark, it's good that you wanted to save everyone in the climax. Sympathizing with Davis and wanting to help him? Nice to see someone acting like Superman in a show about Superman. However, this still doesn't excuse being all "you harlot, you were married!" to Chloe about her apparently platonic relationship with Davis. (DOMESTIC SCENE! SQUEE!) Yes, she dumped her emotionally abuse-y drug addict husband of 45 minutes for someone who actually respects and values her. Before you say anything about that, maybe you should run it by Mrs. Lana Luthor? See how she feels about marital infidelities? Because if you wanna talk about people not waiting until the ink is dry on their divorce papers...
I know that Davis's character type has been done before, but I must say, it's executed extremely well, hitting just the right note between tragic monster and creepy subtext. The emotional manipulation (intentional or un) in his last scene with Chloe, the way he kisses the crucifix, the line "THERE AREN'T ENOUGH PRAYERS FOR MY REDEMPTION!" Whoa. Good stuff. And hey, a Christian on network television who's also a serial killer but isn't portrayed as some Bible verse spouting loonie toon whose mother spanked him too much.
So, Tess is going down the Reverse Flash "I'm going to make you a better hero" route with Clark. Nice, and another way to set her apart from being "Lex with tits." Hope it doesn't get dropped in ten seconds like Lana Lang - Space Racist.
So Davis is the real Bullshit Indian Mythology bad guy? You know, that's just stupid, I'm sorry. Something inside me retches at the thought of DOOMSDAY being Superman's great enemy while Lex Luthor is just this blip in his life that cock-blocked his relationship with Lana.
Although, Villain Babies (we'll make your dreams come true!) with Lex and Davis was cute and fun. Lex playing the hero fighting against the evil Other, Davis playing along in blissful ignorance of his eventual role, Lionel Luthor dumping him on the street... that's some cold shit. Although the final scene of him being abandoned was ruined by his transformation into Doomsday. I'm just going to mentally retcon that to him having a blackout and starting on the road to Doomsday.
Davis shirtless scene. Who do think gives more fanservice these days, Lois or Davis? It's been a while since Lois dressed up in a leather catsuit and flirted with another woman, I'm just saying.
Hey, Chloe was sympathetic and understanding of Davis once she got all the facts! And there's a little love triangle between her platonic friendship with Clark and her feelings toward Davis! AND SHE ENDS UP CHOOSING DAVIS! I loved that whole storyline, with Davis wanting to commit suicide to avoid his destiny, then AFTER THAT revealing that there's another way involving Chloe. It says a lot about him that he first tries to kill himself, both to make sure no one gets hurt because of him and to spare Chloe either the burden of supporting him or the knowledge that she could've. See, Clark, THAT'S how you try to protect someone.
And then they flashed back to him being abandoned, losing Lex and the hope of a happy childhood just like he's losing Chloe and... sniffle. I just have a little something in my eye. See, show, you can be good when you try!
While I liked Chloe being ruthless (because she's a sassy blonde version of Oracle and that is awesome), I think it's OOC for Clark to accept that (although the right time to bring up your code of ethnics is not while she's mourning her lost love, CLARK). If morally gray things need to be done, then Clark should either take a firm stance and say "No, never" or man up and do it himself, not let his best friends do his dirty work. How do you spell hypocrisy again?
Didn't like the Chloe/Davis reunion scene being played like some creepy sex dungeon molestation thing. Having admitted she loved him and then executed him to save the world (OH HAI BUFFY/ANGELUS STORYLINE, DIDN'T SEE YOU THERE!), can't she be at least a little happy to see him? But I'm so glad she decided to help her loverboy instead of ditching him. Hey, a character actually doing something smart and likable! How novel!
But after making Davis this sympathetic, trustworthy character (yes, he kills people, but they were all bad), then they play Chloe sympathizing and trusting him as... bad? Like, they staged that scene like we should've been rooting for her to ditch the man she loved and let him kill all the innocents he liked. DIRECTING FAIL.
Basically what she's done is take a chance on love and that's so much better than her just continuing to be Clark's whipping boy/sob sister thing. And I did love that after making the hard choice to kill Davis on the information she had available, she adapts to new circumstances and tries to make the best of things. That scene could've been played way better than SHOCK! SHE LOCKED THE DOOR!, but given what happens behind closed doors... well, there will be fic. Because that timespan between Davis asking her to kill him and her pulling the lever, the immediate aftermath, the AU possibilities... so many plot bunnies!
I can't believe the amount of people who want Chloe to call up her drug addict ex-husband (who she thought might be hallucinating after she caught him TYING UP AND ASSAULTING AN UNARMED MAN) and apologize. After he said marrying her was the biggest mistake in his life and sent her a nasty e-mail? As Gay Perry might say, he called her a... well, a bad word. -- Cunt.
So, though Jimmy was technically right... there's such a thing as a sore winner, Jimmy. Such as your wife after having sex with Davis.

Oh yeah, I went there.
In conclusion, I'm pretty much going to have to write an AU where "the Traveller" was found by Lionel and Davis was adopted by the Kents. Just like everyone else.
(Mine will be the one where Lex and his "brother" Clark don't have sex, whereas Chloe dressing up in a cheerleader outfit to seduce Davis is EXTREMELY RELEVANT TO HIS INTERESTS.)
(Also, I'm thinking we can get rid of Pete and come up with an excuse for Lois hanging out with Chloe and Davis. And trying to become Clark Luthor's trophy wife, IDK.)
(Kid!Chloe and Kid!Davis playing "EMT" with Warrior Angel Band-Aids, lol! Lois: UR DOING IT WRONG!)
