Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

DC vs Marvel
I like them both! I am James Bond, unable to be happy with one comics company. And I also see Image on the side. (No, really, book Bond is totally poly.)
To me personally, Marvel is a little better off. Dark Reign and the SHRA and so on are shit, but at least laws can change and some interesting stories can arise from that. I see it as more wasted potential than anything. Imagine a comic book about the need for security versus the need for liberty that was ACTUALLY ABOUT THAT instead of how meanconservatives Iron Man conservatives Anal Skrulls are. If it weren't for BND, I might be giving the House of Ideas some money.
DC, on the other hand, has this company-wide vision that is just disgusting to me, where all the basest ideas seem to flourish. Characters are entirely predicated on shock value and publicity (just look at Dinah and Ollie getting married when Dick and Babs didn't, which is completely bass-awkwards for everyone concerned). And killing every C-lister in the roster is a lot harder to reverse than Marvel's crap. I just wish they'd go back to trying to tell good stories instead of squeezing every conceivable cent out of every conceivable wallet.
the X-Men and their bajillion continuities
Oh, I'm just in it for Emma. I barely know what's going on these days or any days. I kinda miss the Morrison days, flawed as they were, and wish talented people were allowed to continue going down that road instead of repeating "Mutants just saved the world and gave everyone a lollypop, LET'S PUT THEM IN DEATH CAMPS!" ad nauseum. I mean, right now, we have the first black president, gay marriage is being legalized, and yet the official X-Men take on minority rights is still stuck on Malcolm X and race riots. Why not spotlight a priest who's preaching tolerance, or a mutant senator running for office, or the first openly mutant TV star? The X-Men can still protect them from evil mutants, but we can also tell never before seen stories about the civil rights movement.
LOLcats

amusing explanations for silly inconsistencies
No-prizes aside, I learned early on that if something pisses me off, it's funner to take the piss out of it then let loose SCADS OF RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION! which is not all that fun to read (hi there Big Hollywood!). So if Donna Noble or Mary-Jane Watson gets mistreated, I respond with fics that point out how silly their mistreatment is. I've recently adapted this tendency to something like real life... hmm....
enthusiasm
Why should I waste my time on something to complain about it and hate it? If I'm watching a show or reading a comic, it's because I'm pumped about it! I want to root for Spider-Man and the Doctor and Peter Petrelli and all the rest. If I'm not, it's not because of a problem at this end, friend.

Date: 2009-02-17 08:26 am (UTC)DC > Marvel for me because of Diana. Although lately? Boo.

Date: 2009-02-17 08:46 am (UTC)We may not have canon, but we'll always have fics about Diana doing naughty yet loving things with multiple partners.
I realize that attempted pimping is transparently insecure, but hey, it's Wonder Woman femslash. I can use all the feedback I can get.

Date: 2009-02-17 08:50 am (UTC)Oh, dude, I'll always read your Diana femslash. ALWAYS. Because I love your Emma/Jean/Scott and there's SCOTT in there but I still love it. That is amazing in itself.

Date: 2009-02-17 03:20 pm (UTC)Yeah, Didio's school of "Holy Shit!" writing is not working for me, and they forgot the "Holy" part.
I honestly want one day for DC to stop trying to be Marvel. DC, we love you because of your stupid animals with capes, convoluted parallel universes and ill conceived obscure characters. Please stop trying to be something else.
