Black Cat in BND
Oct. 21st, 2008 01:09 amAs I am quick to point out, with Mary-Jane out of the picture, there's really no reason for Peter not to be shacking up with Felicia. I mean, that's the point of a love triangle, isn't it? But my great glee in Peter/Felicia (I've made picspam out of the 90s cartoon, for Christ's sake!!) is in this case replaced by a there-but-for-the-grace-of-God-go-I pleasure that my girl isn't involved in this clusterfuck storyline.
I know, I know, I've talked about how good a storyline it'd be for Peter and Felicia to get involved before regaining their memories and how I think that's really the only excuse for BND at this point (given that all the other changes it's made MUST be rolled back. C'mon, what's the fun of a universe where Johnny, Matt, and Norman don't know Peter's secret?). But as an ordinary couple... umm, no. Marvel has actually found a magic formula by which I don't want to see my ship get together.
I mean, can you imagine it? The Peter/MJ shippers would be calling Felicia a whore and a rapist, the Peter/Felicia shippers would be in the position of defending Brand New Day, and my ship would be tarred forever by association.
So thank you, Joe Quesada, for disregarding decades of character development and interworkings (you know, again) so that Peter can fruitlessly date characters no one cares about.

Date: 2008-10-21 05:41 pm (UTC)Plus, I've seen people claim that Emma raped Scott for... having consensual sex with him. I never underestimate batshippers.
Plus, they'd actually have a point. We can all agree that under normal circumstances, Peter would never cheat on MJ. Erasing his memory (and apparently parts of his personality that resulted from those memories) is the mystical equivalent of slipping him a roofie. So yeah...

And yeah I agree about that last bit, but it still wouldn't be Felicia's fault since she'd be as much the victim as Peter would be, more so.
