Okay, we all know that manga digests are kicking the ass of Western comics. I think the solution is obvious.

Make X-Men into a harem manga about Scott Summers.

Think about it! Just off the top of my head, the guy's been a love interest for Jean Grey, Emma Frost, Madeline Pryor, Lee Forrester, and Psylocke. Tenchi Muyo, eat your heart out.

Scott: I don't want to date any of you! I must train to control my deadly mutant eyes, and take up the mantle of leading the X-Men!

Emma: But you promised to take me to the arcade!

Psylocke: No, he's going to take me to the theatre!

Emma: And why should Scott go on a date with you?

Psylocke: Because unlike some other telepaths, I can speak with an English accent.

Emma: ...*starts fight scene*

Plus, Chibi original five X-Men taking orders from Chibi Professor X. You may all now praise my genius.

The "hero" of harem anime always has a friend who is a total undersexed pervert who envies the hero's harem. I nominate Wolverine for that role. Professor X, as the elder teacher has to be a complete panty stealing pervert, two short steps away from being that guy in the park that opens his coat in the park and shows his penis at schoolgirls.

How about a spin on the "undersexed pervert friend" archetype? Wolverine has his own . . . unique allure, but is in love with Jean, for whom Scott also harbors intense (but unspoken) feelings. This becomes a point of contention between them, with Wolverine even daring Cyclops to "make a f***ing move, or I'll f*** her for you." And, given how harem anime tends to work, this will be milked for all the hellarity it is worth and even after the point the fans have gotten sick of it.

There is a manga X-Men series out there called X-Men Ronin. I flipped through a few issues at the comic store - it sucked. Emma is in it, but she dies or something.
