My new year's
Jan. 2nd, 2010 12:38 pmSo, I actually finished writing a 200,000 word novel a few hours before the ball dropped. Well, it's just shy of 200,000 words, which upsets the OCD in me to no end. And it's finished, not done. There's some scenes I want to add, redo, trim, and an entire character and subplot I have to add. I may have to chop it in two, since 200,000 goddamn words!
I guess bad news, I had to work on New Year's Eve, to just about a half hour before New Year's, good news, it was with a pretty cool manager. Like, people-cool, not boss-cool.
Anyhoo, since it's the new year, I thought I'd do something a bit different. Instead of ranting about something bad (and believe me, I've got an Avatar review on the backburner), I thought I'd spotlight something that elevates a work just by appearing in it. There's not many people who can bump up a review just by showing up, but, well...
Everything's Better With Eartha Kitt
According to five minutes I spent on Wikipedia, Orson Welles called her "the most exciting woman in the world." I'm assuming that's new hotness Orson, not old and busted Orson, because eww. Anyway, Eartha Kitt was a cabaret singer, Broadway star, film actress, supporter of gay rights, and she was Yzma in The Emperor's New Groove. Holy shit! Plus, her Catwoman was easily better than that of Academy Award winner Halle Berry's. So, that counts as winning an Oscar. Hell, we gave one to Shakespeare In Love, so why not?
Sadly, she died in 2008, before the inevitable guest spot on Glee (it would've been EPIC). But look at it this way: she miraculously avoided being killed by 2009. Here's her singing about how much she liked fucking, in 19-goddamn-62.
Jesus Christ, her FAAAAAACE!
