Okay, I hate talking about myself and writing summaries, but I think this query letter should do the job. What do you think, random teeming masses of Netizens (are we still saying that? That sounds so 90s…)?

A new plague that turned those it infected into monsters—and those it didn’t into animals. The infection can happen anywhere, at any time, to anyone. After the transformation, the infected destroy everything around them. They are hard to kill. There is no way to predict who will change. There is no way to reverse it. Only a rumor that there’s one place on Earth where the infection hasn’t reached. What would you do to get there?

The Kid is a young man born into this post-apocalyptic world, perfectly evolved to it while others are still mourning what’s been lost. He works as a sheriff in a fledgling camp, putting down the occasional ‘Twist’ and trying to forget what he’s done to get where he is. An old man finds him to deliver a message; the man’s granddaughter is living in Sanctum, where the monsters can’t get in and people don’t change. If the Kid can escort him on the long journey, he’ll be allowed in too.

All that’s in the way is G-Khan, a self-styled warlord and former protégé of Colonel Nielsen, the Kid’s own mentor. A man G-Khan murdered. To sneak through his territory, the unlikely pair go undercover in a troupe of vaudeville performers—the most popular form of entertainment in a world without electricity. The show they’re putting on is a mythologized version of the Kid’s own mysterious past; the last thing on Earth he wants to go through again. But to get to Sanctum, he’ll have to confront his future, his past, and his own predatory nature.

I work as a freelance writer in Cedar Park, Texas. I have contributed articles to Fempop.com and raised over four hundred dollars for charity writing short fiction on commission. I also have a following on Tumblr of nearly a thousand people, and the works I’ve posted on writing archive sites regularly receive upwards of thirty thousand hits a month.

I think that’s about as roundabout I can be at saying “People really seem to like the lesbian porn I write about straight characters on family shows.”
