So I've been watching the first few episodes of Revenge and I have two real thoughts.

1. The villains are a bit disappointing. The basic plot is that Conrad Grayson, eeeeevil industrialist, framed the protagonist's father for funding terrorism when he was actually doing it himself (which, judging by this and Iron Man, is apparently very profitable). Despite the fact that he's the criminal mastermind and, you know, a fucking terrorist, he isn't the heavy. That honor goes to Victoria Grayson, his wife, who vengeful Amanda/Emily seems to be focusing her vendetta on. Apparently for the sole reason that she was her father's lover and then betrayed him (or didn't object strenuously enough to the plot, since she's one of those woe-is-me villains that apparently ABC specializes in). I can't help thinking that if betrayal is such a big deal to her, she could've done a bigger number on the psychiatrist who put her into an asylum for the whole of her childhood, despite her job and, y'know, basic humanity being to safeguard small children, simply for a cushy job.

Basically, the Doylist reasoning for Madeline Stowe being the Big Bad overwhelms any Watsonian reasoning.

2. It's impossible for me to take the Taylor (Tyler?) plotline seriously after watching this video.

Although it is funny that his MO seems to be Make obvious lie, Get caught in obvious lie, "Hey bro, I'm your friend." I can't help thinking that at all times, Emily is fuming not over his deception, but what a rank amateur he is at it. "BITCH, DO YOU EVEN HAVE A STRIPPER ALTER EGO ON YOUR PAYROLL?"
