You know that post I made the other day about adults co-opting children's entertainment? I think everyone suggesting the Hunger Games should've been an R-rated movie--you know, the YA novel that was marketed to and read by kids--they should probably go back and read that. Like it's not enough that the Batman series have turned into basically soft R movies... that at least has been around long enough that there are adults in the fandom. But demanding that something for kids gets blood and tits added to it just so you, a cynical adult, can enjoy it more? What kind of an asshole does that?

Don't remind me, saw a comment on a review yesterday that pissed me off by the fact of how the commenter completely missed the point of the story.

they were complaining that Katniss didn't kill more people, just so she could survive, missing the point that if Katniss did give in and just became a killer, then the Capitol would have won.

I think in this instance it's a case where there's a big difference between what you can put in YA book and what you can show onscreen in a PG-13 movie. A literal adaptation of Collins' book would definitely get an R rating, but that would miss the spirit of the story by taking it away from its intended audience.
