In light of recent frustration from my friends, I thought this would be a good time to point out that Gail Simone is seen as just about the most feminist, progressive, talented writer in the comic book industry by Scans_Daily. When she says she wants to write an embattled character like Cass Cain, people see her as that character's messiah. So when I say this, I mean it in the most literal sense.

Let's not forget that they ran her out of the place on a rail for "killing a gay character" who wasn't gay and wasn't actually dead.

Birds of Prey #2, when Savant and Creote had their fake-out death.

They insisted that she had killed "Two gay characters", despite the fact that Savant was not gay. She showed up to basically flat out tell them "Don't be so quick to judge, the story's far from over". So any sane person would take that to mean that it's obviously a fake-out.

Instead, they called her a homophobe, accused her of having a pattern of killing gay characters, and when she tried to defend herself, the mod gave her an infraction.

She basically told them to go fuck themselves in politer terms and left.

The short version is that it used to be a good place, but then the same thing that ruined the Superdickery forums happened--the trolls and assholes managed to weasel their way into modships, and then proceeded to start driving off anyone who didn't agree with them.

it got mods that are quick to be offended by everything is what happened to them.

Plus who think they know everything. THe only reason they're at the third version of the group is because they decided "we're moving the group to dreamwidth, we don't care what you think."

Honestly, the only reasons I still go there is I can't find any viable alternative, particularly since I don't like tumblr's interface and hate the whole "we must always move on to the new shiny toy" thing that's the big reason tumblr took off.
