Adventures in Ushering
May. 29th, 2011 01:15 pmSo I want to set this up for you real quick. If you've been to a theater lately (and why wouldn't you, with quality fare like Priest in the offing? It's like The Searchers with vampires that aren't really vampires), you know that a multiplex tends to have different auditoriums next to each other. Theater 1, theater 2, and so on. Also, when the show is over, the ushers will prop the doors open so you get out faster and we can do our damn jobs, no, don't sit and watch the credits, you've had your two hours, GTFO for your convenience.
What you may not know is that the larger theaters, with the biggest amount of seats, may be clumped together. And they're usually be devoted to the new releases, since that's what people want to see the most. So, this weekend. Kung-Fu Panda 2 is in theater 2, The Hangover 2 is in theater 1. Hangover 2 is ending just as Kung-Fu Panda 2 is seating. So the doors to Hangover 2 are open. So the families who are going to see a CGI panda are passing by the closing credits to Hangover 2. Would it surprise you to know that the Hangover 2 ends with photos of the forgotten night of debauchery, just like in the original Hangover?
I'm told this is nothing compared to when Tropic Thunder came out and ended with a rap song.
