Stuff I Read - Mission Statement

seriousficThe average fic is quickly forgotten, receives few comments, and can be very unrewarding to the author. This is an attempt to correct that.

leavethesky already recced this, so what I'm doing is kinda like Jeffrey Tambor throwing that extra gear onto Kroenen. But anyway, considering how Pegasus glossed over the Cain/Gina in their rush to Joss, here is a very satisfying narrative shift from Cain/Kendra's perspective to Gina's, highlighting the tragedy of just how fucking doomed their relationship was. Which the show already covered, so showing a new facet of that beyond just generic angst is pretty awesome.
Employment After Death - Angel, Anya/Illyria. Whew, we need a pick-me-up after that last fic, huh? This is just pure fluff. After being Jossed at the last minute (seriously, Whedon, was that necessary? Was it? For one couple to reach the final frame intact?), Anya has landed on her incorporeal feet as orgasm-giver for the very considerate Powers That Be. And when you think about the amounts of sexual frustration going around in the Buffyverse, you see the critical importance this takes on. Her next assignment: Illyria.
A Wing And A Prayer - Batman, Dick/Babs. Okay, I know a lot of you fangirls just aren't into the girlsex, and there's nothing wrong with that. Hey, I could be more into the dudesex, I know. This lovely story is het, which hopefully you can be open-minded about (it's half dude, kay?) and features Dick/Babs in all their hurt, loving, yearning glory. This is one of those moments that makes you root for them to get together, even when you know that maybe the time isn't right just this second. There are a lot of fics that depict that second. This is one that comes before. Hopefully, not long before.
