Movie review: Return to Oz

It's like the Wizard of Oz, if SHIT GOT REAL.

But seriously though, this has some badass effects, even if they are 90% nightmare fuel (they took the "if I only had a brain" Scarecrow and made him look like the "would you like to see my mask?" Scarecrow). Gnome King, FOREVER. He looks ten times better than Megatron does in the Transformer movies and he was done with Claymation and mud paint.

I've noticed a trend where real things actually look more realistic than computer generated images on a screen. Shocker, I realise. Which just makes it ever the more irritating when they just throw everything at a blue/green screen and see what sticks.

Because it's totally HARDCORE? Man, back in the day, Disney used to keep it real. Now it's all cheapuels. But back then, people would make a Sherlock Holmes story cast entirely with mouses just because it seemed like a good idea when they were drunk.

True, when you do look at the evidence they apparently did drink a lot at the Disney Studious or at least drop a lot of acid.

Oooh - someone should totally write a series like Mad Men but with animators.
