and the thing is, they wouldn't even have to invent a new kid. During the unmasking, they had this storyline in sensational, where a bunch of kids got spiderpowers. One of which was explored, not just in that issue, but in a previous issue where the reaction to Peter's unmasking was shown.
Use that kid. (need to look up his name) Have him be the only one of those kids who's body didn't reject the spiderpowers Hyde gave them. (maybe because unlike the other kids, they got to him in time)
This way you'd have the story already in place, a kid that Peter already knows. Who has an semi-interesting backstory with a single mom who works for Matt Murdock (instant connection to DD)
And there wouldn't be anything contrived about it. (Of course I never understood why Slott picked the MVP clones to be the Scarlet Spiders instead of those kids, aside of his lack of respect for Spidey, in that he seems to think a bunch of well trained acrobats could copy Spidey's agility.)
