Alice in Wonderland

So I saw the trailer for the new Alice In Wonderland movie and they're really pushing Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter pretty hard (appropriate, as he's one of the few characters who doesn't look like a refugee from a Todd Browning movie). Hey, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp working together on a movie, you don't see that every day! Just every other day. Pardon my cynicism.

But who'd they get to play Alice, anyway?

I don't know how I feel. I think Alice is gorgeous, but the art direction (and Johnny Depp) isn't what I pictured for the film. It seems to try and be too edgy, in my opinion. :( The colors seem so dreary and for a kids movie, looks really scary.

I do like the fact that Burton may have created a Johnny Depp character the fangirls can't squee* over.

*If you know what I mean.
