Picture this: Neal, gutshot, falls though the portal as before. Only this time, the show didn’t just forget about the fact that he got fucking shot and fell into medieval times. It’s a long, slow death, Mulan, Aurora, and Philip trying to treat him but there’s just no way. He hangs on long enough to hear about Henry’s kidnapping and tells Mulan how to get to Neverland, begs her to go after them, then he dies.
Yup. Straight-up dead Baelfire. Meanwhile, Mulan’s still stewing about all this talk Neal had about love and Emma and feelings, so she goes to Aurora, shit, finds out she’s pregnant, decides to leave Aurora and Philip to their happy ending and go to Neverland herself. Instead of a love triangle over Emma, we get Mulan recovering from a broken heart, and maybe coming to the decision to fight for Aurora, baby or no.
If you want, she can still fight with Hook over Emma. Emma is lesbian catnip, after all. Hell, make Mulan *Regina’s* love interest. Two people with broken hearts, sympathizing with each other’s pain, slowly coming to develop feelings for each other. It’d make the hundred episodes we spent in Neverland just fly by.
