Atheism: It's less work.
Mar. 8th, 2012 07:28 amWhat's the point of an atheist billboard? Like, a billboard promoting atheism? Because I've heard about them existing, but by definition, converting someone to atheism makes no difference to the atheist. Whether they believe in God, Buddha, or nothing, everyone ends up in the same place. So why spend time and money on something that makes no difference? It's like taking out a TV ad telling people to break their eggs at the big end instead of the small end. Who cares?
You would think one of the appeals of atheism would be that you don't have to spend time on religion, yet some people spend so much time on evangelizing their beliefs that they might as well be putting in an hour at the Church of Atheism. Like, every article at io9 that touches on religion at all will have someone going "PHILIP PULLMAN PHILIP PULLMAN PHILIP PULLMAN" or even getting into a debate about probably the most subjective concept in the universe. "I don't believe there is sufficient evident to support the existence of God!" "I do!" There, the topic has been exhausted.
It seems to me a better case for your beliefs would be just being a slacker. Maybe get a T-shirt that says "This is what I'm doing while I could be believing in God."
