Stop the hate
Nov. 4th, 2010 11:37 amSo apparently the latest all-consuming fandom wank is someone wrote a story in which a character made a race joke; hence, racewank. So, a controversy over a character saying something racist meant to be funny in how shocking it is. Am I the only one surprised that this isn't happening in House fandom?
But anyway, about hipster racism. Can we stop picking on the hipsters? I know, they are ridiculous, but when you get to the point that Scott Pilgrim flops because HIPSTERS!, it's gone too far. What has Edgar Wright ever done to you? He's made you hilarious geeky movies. He gave you "SHIT JUST GOT REAL." And now, when the guy needs you to watch a movie that doesn't have Simon Pegg in it, you abandon him. Why? Because Michael Cera was in it? Bitch, I know you're looking forward to an Arrested Development movie, you think Michael Cera isn't going to be in that? Maybe it's time that we accept hipsters into our stable of silly social groups, like furries and Supernatural fangirls.
But seriously now. Maybe it's time to paraphrase Oscar Wilde."There is no such thing as a moral or immoral book. Books are either well written or badly written. That is all." There is no such thing as a moral or immoral fanfic. Fanfics are either in-character or OOC. That is all.
