I don't know if anyone's heard about this yet, but the Avatar movie has recast the part of Prince Zuko (supposedly due to scheduling conflicts), replacing Jesse McCartney with Dev Patel.

My feelings are kinda mixed on this one. I haven't seen Patel in anything but Slumdog Millionaire and that wasn't really an acting showcase, but still, I don't see how anyone can be a downgrade from Jesse McCartney. And he is a minority, which is nice (although I thought Fire Nation was always coded as Japanese).

But still, they decide to cast a minority actor in Avatar and it's the villain? Everyone's white except for the bad guy, and by extension his entire race? Yeah, ummm... not so smooth.

I couldn’t sleep a minute while I was gone. I kept thinking about the people I’d killed. ‘Enemies of Darkseid’. You’re an enemy of Darkseid. What if they were like you? What if they had hopes and dreams and… they did, didn’t they? Before they met me. )

I'm torn between "oh, Zach Snyder read Days of Future Past, only 299 times less than the writers of Heroes" and "...that's the way they became the Watchy Bunch, na na na!"

Christian Bale uses outdoor voice.

To be fair, when he was twelve, Joe Chill killed Christian Bale's parents with cinematography, instilling in him a pathological dislike of cinematography that persists to this day. Harsh, perhaps. But if your mother was blocked to death before your eyes, would you be any different?

Oh, and if you were starring in the fourth fucking Terminator movie ("the one where the robots are BIG!"), being directed by Mc-fucking-G. And coming off The Dark Knight. That's like going from conserving body heat with Angelina Jolie to being raped by Rosie O'Donnell.

On Taken: [livejournal.com profile] bluespells: the women we see are all clearly 'weak' creatures who spend most of the movie crying.

[livejournal.com profile] seriousfic: Ah, you forgot the female singer who was nice and gave Kim singing lessons! Your argument is invalid! You know what that means!

[livejournal.com profile] bluespells: Zomg! How could I forget a totally pointless character that shows up for five minutes at the beginning and end!

:OOOO

I shall take my horse and bear like a woman.

[livejournal.com profile] seriousfic: Oh, she had as much screentime as slutty best friend. You're not arguing your way out of that horse and bear. Just be grateful it's not a bunny with a pancake on its head!

[livejournal.com profile] bluespells: -cries with shame-

We have fun here on LJ. Oh, one more thing.
This is behind you. )
