Black Canary not in Green Arrow movie.

My opinion is that if you put Dinah in a Green Arrow movie, she's not going to be the hero or even the heroine, she's going to be The Girlfriend. She'll probably be kidnapped and tortured at some point so Ollie can get really mad.

Whereas if you put Dinah in a Birds of Prey movie, she's going to be one of the Big Damn Heroes (I don't know if you can fit Helena and Zinda in there, as Hollywood probably suspects that audiences' eyes would glaze over from just two women on-screen without a dude handy, so baby steps).

So, basically, what I want is for them to keep Dina Meyer as Babs, get a big action heroine for Dinah as starpower, then start blowing shit up. There are so many ways this will never happen, I might as well be asking for a giant orgy with sharks and laser-eyed robots and shit.

I was pissed off when I first read that they wouldn't have Black Canary in it, but you're probably right in that she'd just end up as the Girlfriend/damsel in distress and nothing more. *sigh* Hollywood is depressing.

Bruce Wayne pretends he is a playboy, but he usually has either estable girlfriends, who end up leaving him for being broody Batman; or, when not dating someone, he has 'friends with benefits' like Catwoman and Zatanna. But he hardly goes around bat-sexing strangers.

I think you are all just being pessimistic. Yes, Hollywood is usually depressing, but that doesn't mean black Canary has to be JUST the girlfriend. It is entirely possible to write the Green Arrow movie with Black Canary in it kicking ass.

Sure, it might happen. But it's like that "you miss all the shots you don't take" thing. Yeah, if Black Canary is not in the movie, nothing bad will happen to her, but nothing good will happen either.

I maintain that nothing good can come out of Ollie/Dinah on the big screen, unless Ollie is killed in the first five minutes and the rest of the movie is Dinah and Barbara investigating his death while dealing with their burgeoning sexual tension.
