Tornado Terror! --- as opposed to Tornado Melancholy

So I'm channel-flipping and end up on the SyFy Channel. I only saw a little, but I think the plot is a metafictional look at a disaster movie where the producer used all of the effects budget for beer money and they had to make do with cutscenes meant for a canceled Dreamcast game.

So a tornado is hitting Staten Island. Everyone is holding onto trees, trying to keep from being blown away. The hero says they need to find shelter. He looks around, notices a manhole, runs over, pulls up the cover, and tells his girlfriend to get down. "What?" she asks.

Yes, why would he ever want to go underground during a tornado? It sure is an odd time to engage in his spelunking fetish, isn't it?
