Two actors from Twilight introduce a tribute to horror movies, which include Twilight and Bram Stoker's Dracula? Bullshit. I could literally name twenty people more qualified. Christopher Lee, Robert Englund, Bruce Campbell, Jeffrey Combs, Brad Dourif, the list goes on. You can tell this was the result of the same thought process that gave us people dancing to the theme from The Hurt Locker.

Other than that, thought, the Academy was pretty on the ball. I might've given District 9 best visual effects over Avatar, since they were both going for photorealism and sympathy. D-9 made you believe there were prawns and care that they were being persecuted. Avatar made you think cartoons were kinda sexy, and let's face it, we've always known that.

And I hear there's some outrage over Hurt Locker taking Best Screenplay out from under Inglorious Bastards, BUT:

1. If your screenplay talks about King Kong for 25 minutes, then King Kong should be in the movie.

2. If your screenplay has an A-plot and a B-plot, they should have something to do with each other. You didn't see Hurt Locker cutting away from brave/deranged soldiers trying to defuse IEDs to a geeky Iraqi teen trying to impress his dream girl.

3. Inglourious Basterds. If your screenplay is the best, it should probably be spell-checked.
