aliensouldream. A remix of Chasing Boys by
sophinisba.
Characters/Pairings: Casey/Delilah, with references to Delilah/Marybeth
Summary: Back in second grade, Delilah led a pack of girls who would chase their favorite boys around the playground. The only difference now is Casey doesn't want to be caught.

Yet more author's notes: I suppose it's traditional to talk about the remixing. I looked over a lot of
sophinisba's fics looking for something to remix. Chasing Boys leapt out at me because of the idea of a shared childhood between Delilah and Casey being brought up as sort of a metaphor for being slipped the slug, with Delilah remembering the good times and Casey the "oww, broken arm." And since that didn't pass the word count, I expanded it still more into an alternate ending to the movie.
The original Chasing Boys is basically pre- and post-movie. I saw it as an attempt to rationalize the fairly token romance in the film (there, Delilah is pretty much the Hero's Reward). It goes something like this.
1. Delilah is hostile to Casey, who has a crush on her.
2. Aliens invade.
3. ???
4. Sex!
I wanted to fill in step three a bit, the same as
sophinisba's original. Plus, it's a lot of fun to write Clea Duvall butchly deriding the tropes of sci-fi action adventure while in a sci-fi action adventure.
