Random Wonder Woman thoughts
Dec. 20th, 2008 02:43 pmNo, this has nothing to do with Diana/Selina/Io/Donna porn I spent the morning writing, why do you ask?
1. I'd totally like to write a second Wonder Woman monthly that's all about Diana and Artemis starring in their own buddy movie. Artemis is a pessimist, Diana's an optimist. Artemis is a fighter, Diana's a peacemaker. You could call it Amazons and set it mostly on Paradise Island... after the UN moves its headquarters there. That'd open up some new stories in ending Themyscira's isolationism (or trying to, at any rate) and make for a nice multiracial recurring cast in all the Amazons and all the embassy staffs. Comics have enough superior, isolationist alien races... why not a benevolent group of cool people who want to learn from us as well as teach. That's way less White Man's Burden and more appropriate to the 21st century, even a little political without being preachy.
2. Diana needs a cool HQ. Batman has the Batcave, Superman has the Fortress of Solitude, the Fantastic Four has the Baxter Building... Spider-Man has a hot wife, so it's cool either way. But the Themyscrian Embassy could totally be her cool HQ. It's distinctive from other homebases (an embassy that's right there on the street), it could have cool Greco-Roman architecture, you could have Julia doing research in the archives and Io as the gadget-girl in the basement forge... just so long as you wait a couple years before dramatically invading it/blowing it up, it'd be awesome.
