(no subject)

Hey, I'm looking to write a book with a character who was abused as a child and I wondering if there are any books or movies y'all know of that are particularly realistic about the aftereffects of that sort of thing. Because I don't want to be "Well, here's a random character, how can I add pathos? I know, CHILD ABUSE! La la, MAN-PAIN!"

Jackie Chan marathon: Supercop

You know how in Wanted, there's this ridiculous comic book universe where people can do things like shoot the wings off flies and jump from building to building? And how one of the ridiculous things Angelina Jolie does is crash a car into a train? Ha ha, how silly! No one could really do that!

Then Michelle Yeoh jumps a motorcycle onto a train in real life, because's that's how few fucks she gives. If you tried to measure them, you'd have a negative number of fucks.

"Screw your physics, though."

Lucy Liu IS American John Watson

On the one hand, Watson being female (and Asian!) does take it further away from the Department of Redundancy Department with RDJ!Sherlock and Cumberlock. On the other hand, don't we already have, like, a dozen shows about a brilliant-but-eccentric detective and his faithful, flustered gal sidekick?

ETA: But lol at all the comments going "oh god, I hope they don't give them UST, ugh!" Guuurl, you know you don't mind Sherlock UST as long as it's two hot guys. By your standards, they would just be keeping faithful to the characters.
