Fic: Invincible (WMC)

Title: Invincible
Fandom: Women’s Murder Club
Rating: PG
Characters/Pairings: Lindsey/Cindy
Word Count: 264
Summary: The problem with being invincible is that you can’t let anyone get close enough to hurt you.

It wasn’t supposed to be this way. Lindsey was supposed to be a lone wolf. That was the plan after Tom left. She wasn’t supposed to run this gamut, worried and protective and stupidly happy. She was supposed to be invincible.

And yet here Lindsey was, waiting at a trendy coffee bar for Cindy. Her lover. Her Kryptonite.

This was the kind of place she usually only saw if there were a corpse on the premise, and now here she was on a date. Life as a mere mortal wasn’t so bad. Except for the worry when Cindy was late. Worry that made her memory run through every young woman who’d been grabbed, raped, murdered. She didn’t want Cindy to so much as break a heel. Goddamn New Dating. She should’ve picked Cindy up at her place, not agreed to meet at a third location. Screw what Cosmo said about spicing up love lives. She wanted to be with Cindy, every step of the way to look at anyone who might so much as spill hot coffee on her and wave her gun in their face. Amazing what a few months on a serial killer’s Five can do to your protective instincts. It was almost enough to embarrass her. But not quite.

It kinda sucked not being calm, cool, invincible. But when Lindsey saw Cindy walk through the door with a billion-watt smile, it was all worth it. And when Cindy writhed under her, body quick to sweat and blush, red hair sticking to her face in crazy-quilt patterns, it was really worth it.

Amazing. I loved Lindsay's thoughts on Cindy and dating her. And I loved how you got her protectiveness down pat. Nice work. Especially at the end there. A Billion-watt smile. Sweaty and quick to blush. Awesome imagery throughout. :)

Great stuff. I particularly like the line:
"And yet here Lindsey was, waiting at a trendy coffee bar for Cindy. Her love. Her Kryptonite."

For something so short, this was really nice. I can hear Lindsey thinking this. Nicely done :-)

Aw, so sweet. I could totally see Lindsay seeing this all as being way too damned inconvenient, and unable to help herself anyway. :-)

Thanks for this!
